Oklahoma City Celebrates the Return of Redrock Canyon Grill
After Redrock Canyon Grill suffered a disastrous fire last spring, owners and staff members vowed to rebuild. Now, Oklahoma City home owners can nestle back into the beloved restaurant that reopened in November. The restaurant is open for dinner and Sunday brunch only.
Hank Kraft, chief operating officer for the Hal Smith Restaurant Group, notes, “Redrock is a 1999 restaurant. We wanted to update a few things to move the restaurant forward.” The mood and spirit of everyone involved helped them get the restaurant back up and running as quickly as they could. Because of the forced renovations, changes include lighter paint colors, updates to the bar, a new wine cellar, and the conversion of the patio into an indoor-outdoor space. Because of the new garage-style windows, the patio furniture can be left out there year-round, and the climate can be controlled naturally or by the restaurant.
So, what about the food? “We haven’t changed anything on the menu,” Johnson said. “You don’t mess with success. If I took the Cluck n Moo off the menu, I’d have a riot on my hands.” Redrock Canyon Grill’s specialities include rotisserie chicken, steaks, meat loaf, pork chops, salmon, ribs, steaks and enchiladas.
The fire was caused by high winds and hail that damaged a neon light. That was the source of ignition for the fire that employees saw after they exited the building. Restaurant owners say they were fortunate that nobody was hurt, and also that employees saw the flames right away.
Redrock Canyon Grill is located at 9221 Lake Hefner Parkway. The Flying Chicken takeout menu is available as well; just call ahead at 749-1995, and when you arrive, drive up to the back door for what the menu lists as “deluxe curbside service.”
